Abstract

Plastic waste has a significant negative impact on the environment, such as waste accumulation leading to pollution. To address this issue, anticipatory and preventive actions are required. One effective strategy is the 3R principle: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. The implementation of this principle is crucial in controlling plastic waste. The main objective of community empowerment through training in the production of innovative paving blocks using plastic waste as the primary material, provided to the community of Pasar Kota Bahagia Village, is as follows: a) To reduce plastic waste that pollutes the surrounding environment; b) To enhance community knowledge on how to utilize plastic waste materials to create added value for the environment, increase income, and empower local communities to actively participate in the production and sale of the product.The methods applied in this community empowerment program include Focus Group Discussion (FGD), socialization, and counseling, focusing on providing materials and guidance. In conclusion, the empowerment activities carried out by the implementation team in Pasar Kota Bahagia Village play an essential role in actively supporting the BUMDES community. Through these activities, the community gains knowledge and practical skills in making paving blocks, which they can easily utilize.
